Group business analyst appointment to drive growth at Walkers Transport

Logistics provider Walkers Transport, a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, has demonstrated its commitment to its growth strategy with the appointment of a group business analyst.

Nick Atkinson (36) has spent the last 12 years working in supply chain and logistics planning for the medical devices sector, as a master data analyst both in the UK and abroad. As part of his role with Walkers, he’ll be responsible for managing, preparing and distributing key data sets for its Leeds and Manchester operations, reporting directly to group finance director, David Bywater.

Commenting, Nick said: “My aim is to help Walkers fulfil their ambitions through harnessing the power of technology to enhance the customer experience. In the not too distant future we will be able to visualise our performance measurements not just in the boardroom but in our warehouses and other facilities too.”

David added: “This isn’t a typical appointment for a transport firm. However, Walkers is different and we’re at a critical growth point therefore having Nick on board will help the entire team to fully understand our figures and business performance. Ultimately he’ll provide information that will enable senior management to make more informed decisions – which is key if we’re to achieve a growth in revenue and profitability.”

Nick studied politics and media studies at Northumbria University, he also enjoys sports, music and plays piano.

Walkers Transport is one of over 114 independent transport providers that are part of the Palletways UK network. They benefit from shared expertise and resources from within the group to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively than ever before. The Palletways Group comprises 450+ depots and 20 hub operations, through which it provides collection and distribution services across 20 European countries, including the UK.
